What makes us laugh
This question on although at first glance very easy and simple, has no direct answer. Scientists have been studying the human brain for years in pursuit of the answers to this question to no avail. Some videos are funny, some are not and some are funny to only a proportion of people and not everyone. We all find humor in different things and some things make us giggle much harder than others. Well, the more you study what makes funny video so funny, the less funny the whole thing gets.
It’s obvious that humor is important to our everyday lives. It has been shown to help career advancement, speed up the healing process, reduce the risk of depression and heart disease and improve general coping skills. Humor helps us to deal with stressful or tense situations and gives us back some perspective to allow us to tackle the problems head on and get them all sorted out.
However, is there a golden remedy that allows anyone to develop a humorous funny video clip with ease? Can you create the perfect all round funny video that appeals to a large proportion of the population? Not everyone is born as the ultimate class clown with a million and one funny ideas in their heads but here is hope. A person can make the most out of the humor they have already and build on it using certain techniques to create a widely socially acceptable funny video, joke or general frolicking.
Firstly, the one area that is always a winner in whatever medium is to share funny stories from your life. We al have freaky relatives, embarrassing situations, manic holidays and odd occurrences throughout our lives that if told properly can cause riots of laughter around us. You can then use these fantastical family tales to make a serious point after wards combining both a punch line and message to the audience.
Humor also traditionally requires a target. Picking on the weaker and fragile people around you isn’t going to be funny; in fact it could be devastatingly not funny. Your target either has to be a big strong, self assured person who may even throw the first humor assault at you or the target is yourself. The best way to avoid humor at your expense, is to use it on yourself first (This method has also been tried and tested by many politicians!).
Next, before you start on your next funny video masterpiece you should make sure you know your audience inside out. Avoid jokes that single out groups and can offend people such as sexists, racist and generally un-pc topics. These jokes are not only usually, not very funny to many people; they can also get you into a lot of trouble. Find out who your target audience is and tailor your funny video to appeal to them. You may find it a riot yourself but if your funny video clip doesn’t speak to your audience it’s pretty much useless. With this advice in mind you are sure to bag yourself a winner when it comes to creating the perfect hilarious funny video.
